Most homes may have an occasional scorpion now and then. Most Tucsonan's consider this as normal activity. Some Tucson home owners live in an area where the scorpion pressure is quite high and serious attention needs to be given to solve this problem. For those home owners, Gecko has a comprehensive plan utilizing "Infrared Thermal Imaging" and "Black Lighting" to solve your scorpion problem.
Scorpions come from harborage areas in the desert and invade our homes for relief from the extreme summer temperatures as well as for the food sources they find around our homes as well. They find their way into our homes through small cracks and crevices where our energy envelope is compromised. Cold air conditioning in our homes finds its way out through the paths of least resistance around our foundations, door ways and windows. Scorpions and other insects can sense these cold spots, follow them and find their way into the structure where the cold air conditioning is leaving it. Here is our three step plan for total protection.
Step 1. Find and eliminate the exterior harborages areas! A "Black Light Service" is set up around 9pm. Its about this time at night that the scorpions are most active. A black light makes the scorpions illuminate so they are readily located. This step allows the technician to not only go on a hunter / killer mission but more importantly, the technician maps out the harborage areas found. With this knowledge, the technician can eliminate those harborage areas all together and tailor his exterior treatments to have maximum effect!
Step 2. With the use of a FLIR T200 infrared camera, a certified level 1 themographer will "scan" your home for air leaks around doors, windows and foundation. It's these areas that provide attraction and entry into our homes. Once these entry points are identified we can develop an exclusion plan based on our findings. Gecko will seal up these areas to prevent the air leakage that attracts the scorpions and other insects and deny their access into the home.
Step 3. Now that the harborage areas are eliminated and access into the home has been denied to the scorpions and other insects, the technician can now perform an effective and productive exterior treatment around the home based on the information produced from the black lighting and infrared scan. The technician knows where to focus and target his monthly or every other month exterior service to be most effective.
